18 Flight Centre Canada employees from across the country along with Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, President & CEO, Make-A-Wish® Canada recently completed a 5 day trekking expedition in Iceland along the Landmannalaugar route across the Southern Highlands raising $50,000 in the process for Make-A-Wish® Canada.

The “WishTrek” team was made up of 9 members from British Columbia, 6 members from Ontario and 3 members from Alberta, all eager to help raise money for a fantastic cause. Each member was responsible for their trip costs to ensure that every dollar raised went directly to Make-A-Wish® Canada for the purposes of granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

“Flight Centre has proudly supported Make-A-Wish® Canada for more than 11 years,” says Allison Wallace, director of media & communications, Flight Centre Canada and WishTrek member. “We felt it was the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of doing business in Canada by giving back in a big way to our national charity of choice.”

Iceland is one of those rare places on Earth that feels more science-fiction than fact, even when you’re actually there. Gushing geysers, bubbling hot springs, mammoth volcanoes, and acres of polar ice lend this laidback island nation a palpable otherworldly allure. There’s no spacesuit required for this out-of-this-world experience; just healthy legs and a wide-open heart.
